Karma yoga

See there are various Methods and branches of Yoga and karma yoga is one of it.

Bhagvad Gita & Karma Yoga relation

Lord Krishna tells us that all forms of Yoga lead us to a state of physical health, peace of mind, and spiritual harmony, in various but complementary ways.

Among the most popular methods, especially for Westerners, is Hatha Yoga, which we can translate as physical yoga.

By using asanas (standing), bands (power keys), pranayama (breathing exercises), mudras (touch), shatkarmas (internal cleansing) or exercise, hata yoga leads us to a state of physical harmony and harmony.

It allows us to control the body, consolidate our energy and absorb prana. In that case meditation appears to be a natural consequence.

Other major forms or ways correspond to the dominant aspects of human personality, and are all described in the Bhagavad-Gita.

Karma Yoga Explained in Bhagvad Gita

Today, let us understand what is KARMA YOGA as per teachings of Bhagvad Gita.

Yoga is the act of awareness & the word Karma means action. The law of karma is the law of cause and effect, action and response.

Karma Yoga is a yoga of good practice, a state of health characterized by a spirit of service, devotion and non-connection.

In this way, daily actions become means of achieving peace, harmony, well-being, a state of kindness and connection.

It teaches us to do without engaging in action or worrying about the consequences. It also shows us how to behave without being controlled by our circumstances or trying to deceive others.

In order to do so, it is important to work for stability, impartiality, the ability to stay strong, stable in our institution despite the vagaries of life.

This is how we teach to control our physical reaction (anger, hatred, envy, desire for revenge), not to do something for them, thus creating more discomfort, so that we can be our spectators and stop being enslaved by the ego.

Instead, we begin to give our best, devoting ourselves completely to each action.

This is the power of karma yoga.

We open our hearts and begin to flow with life when we follow karma yoga.

How can I use Karma Yoga?

Do your best and be confident and in alignment with your inner soul.

Whatever you do, try to improve as much as you can. If you can think of a better way, use it.

Karma yoga works because of a genuine desire for kindness and goodness. Participate in action, but discard results

Do not use circumstances as a way to accomplish something; or less if it hurts others.

Remember that every task and situation is an opportunity to move forward, to learn something.

It allows us to develop qualities, to learn about ourselves, to give something to others.

While in accordance with Karma yoga process just follow below tips :

1. Forget the past and the future while performing karma yoga

When you are asked to donate as much as you can, it is about doing it in the only minute you have: NOW.

2. Treat others as you would like to be treated when in accordance of karma yoga flow

Remember that each person is different but we all share our feelings and personalities.

3. If you do share, do it with love remembering the soul purpose of karma yoga

Assume that the action does not involve continuous disturbance and movement.

We can do it peacefully.

4. Cultivate peace and detachment while following the path of karma yoga.

Without being driven by flattery or insults, it is futile or arrogant.

Karma yoga is the way of life suggested by Lord Krishna himself so trust almighty and always be a good soul.

Performing Karma Yoga in accordance with Harvard Study

There was a study conducted at Harvard, as I was studying at Harvard Publications called - Harvard Essentials.

Talk about how you can get the best results. Research has shown that the best results do not come from the smartest work, or the most difficult job.

It comes from a well-defined “process” of thinking and action. It is a less important process or a clever job.

The essence of Karma Yoga is similar :

  1. Keep your mind focused on the work not worrying about results at all times.
  2. Leave the result to god.
  3. Stay tuned for the outcome of your work - good or bad.

So how does this karma yoga work?

Krishna says, "You do your work without expecting any fruit and you leave the result to me".

This is an English translation, and probably the worst translation. What he is really saying is, focus on the task at hand, not on the consequences of your actions.

So he actually says that focusing on the “process” rather than the “result”. When you set the process the "effect" is already built in.

However, it does not mean that you will always succeed because the process needs to come up or someone else has a better process than you. When the process gives you the desired results, you repeat it; if not, then rearrange the process.

Thinking about the process will keep you “detached” to the results.- good or bad.

Why is a karma yoga needed?

Because if you are not limited to the following it will happen:

Your success will be the bread of ego.
Failure will result in guilt or sadness.
You were successful because someone else had a better process or you failed because your process was weaker.

Either way they are not satisfied, because the successful person wants more and the failed person wants to win. There is a binary win-loss. But life is not a zero-sum game.

So according to Lord Krishna when you follow Karma yoga, you enjoy the journey and not the destination eg create the process and not the purpose all the time.

This is Karma Yoga! I ;)
